Reg Clark's sounds may have come from migrants rather than commuters.
I believe the previous evening a front had passed through and following
it there were steady winds from the south to south west. This could
encourage north-flying migrants to travel perhaps push them towards
the coast.

The following morning I heard over several hours in total ~50 Yellow-faced
Honeyeaters flying over where I live in inner Sydney. I've only noticed
a few others previously this year.
