Hi everybody - Ian Temby just asked me to post a sighting to Birding-Aus that may be of interest to people in Melbourne for the coming weekend. He saw a Common Sandpiper at 1:45 PM today at the end of Francis Street, Yarraville, feeding on the rocks on the bank of the Yarra. I realise that this sighting is not in quite the same league as a vagrant Galapagos Penguin or Ross's Gull. Does anyone have any comments on how common Common Sandpipers are around Port Phillip Bay?
