Hullo Glen,
A Swamp Harrier is sometimes seen at Banyule Swamp - or so I am told by
those who should know. It hasn't coincided with my visits lately.
Your description sounds right anyway.
Has anyone else seen a Black-shouldered Kite there recently? They used
to be predictable regulars, and in fact bred thereabouts, but I haven't
seen one for about a year. Do we blame drought? rabbit poisoning? what?
