To all those individuals who over recent weeks have provided me with advice about Powerful Owls, many thanks. Yesterday morning (Sunday 12/3) at Mitchell Park (nr. Windor, NSW) I got lucky. Two weeks ago I found half a ring-tail possum lying in the path there, beside a patch of droppings, and knew I was getting close. Yesterday I had superb views of an adult bird, somewhat closer to the picnic area than I expected, in fact only a few (say 40) metres into the creek-side forest. It was being mobbed -- by flies!
