Speaking of birding tourism etc I came across this US website while
searching for something totally unrelated (isn't it always the way!)

http://www.pbs.org/birdwatch/

A tv show on birdwatching.   According to the site, birdwatching is the most
popular US outdoor hobby after gardening !!

Ok, so how have they managed to obtain that magnitude of interest?
