Sunday 19/12/99, a lone Cape Petrel was sighted just off the end of the Mornington jetty(Mornington Peninsula,Vic). It was seen for several days but wasn't there yesterday(22nd).It appeared to be feeding for much of the time and at times was actually swimming under the pier! Why isn't it down in sub Antarctica doing what comes naturally at this time of year. It didn't appear to be sick but I guess something must be wrong as this would be unusual behaviour even in the depths of winter.
