Edithvale wetlands (south of Melb.) is well worth a visit at the moment. The water has receded since my last visit a fortnight ago and conditions are ideal for waders, of which there were probably a couple of thousand. Pectoral Sandpiper was my highlight for the day. The list is as follows: Sharp tailed Sandpiper Pectoral Sandpiper Curlew Sandpiper Red necked Stint Marsh Sandpiper Baillons Crake Spotted Crake Whiskered Tern White winged Black Tern Yellow billed Spoonbill Red necked Avocet Black winged Stilt Black Swan Black Duck Aust. Shoveller Chestnut Teal Grey Teal Black fronted Dotterel Red kneed Dotterel Purple Swamphen Coot Dusky Moorhen Reed Warbler G. H. Cisticola Little Grassbird Wellcome Swallow White faced Heron.
