Birding highlights for 1999? In no particular order .. and all in
Victoria this year:

   * Seeing the long lost Chestnut-crowned Babblers in Terrick Terrick
     National Park.
   * Multiple sightings of Black-breasted Buzzards and Red-chested
Button-quails on Gunbower Island - and great looks at them.
   * The fantastic Pied and Black Honeyeater show put on in northern
Victoria this year; plus the support cast - legions of Cockatield,
     Budgerigars, Crimson and Orange Chats.
   * Cracking 200 species on the Victorian Twitchathon, and going on to
     205 to win back-to-back flags!
   * Numerous close encounters with Superb Parrots in Barmah Forest.
   * Looking at just about any bird through my new Swarovski bins!
   * Being kept company at my Barmah Forest campsite by Dollarbirds and
     Azure Kingfishers.
   * Painted Honeyeaters singing and flying in light rain at Killawarra
     State Forest.
   * A full set of Victorian robins - Red-capped, Flame, Scarlet, Pink,
     Rose, Hooded, Eastern Yellow.

.. and probably a few lesser miracles that I've overlooked.
