Maybe I'm missing the point, but is the referer to this article
http://www.theonion.com/onion3534/missing_the_point.html
suggesting that using a Twitchathon to raise funds for bird conservation is 
like 
"the overweight housewife who eats bag after bag of reduced-fat Ruffles"? 
And that "the thought processes of [participants] are profoundly and 
fundamentally flawed"? But that everyone else is probably okay? Wow!
