Yes, my ticker ticks faster when I think I am about to see a new bird, for instance when a feeding flock is located in some far off Asian country or if someone yells quail in the northern climes of Oz. Surely this means that I have the ticker to cope with any eventuality. I was once a stamp collector and when I would approach the counter for a new issue the adrenalin would flow and I would have a feeling of great excitement. Then I gave up stamps and took up birdwatching and , believe it or not, I get the same feeling of excitement when I think I am going to see a new bird. Certainly, you must have the "ticker" to be a "ticker".
