Finally a few notes to share with you all. The first calls of a Koel have been heard in Yeppoon over the past two mornings!! The calling was not sustained for very long, only about 10mins this morning. I've been on the birding-aus mailing list for some time now and thoroughly enjoy the discussion of the many and varied topics that birding invokes. Some of you might like to know that Yeppoon is 38 kms NE of Rockhampton on the Central Queensland coast. It is close to the Iwasaki Wetlands, Byfield National Park and just offshore (about 14kms) are the Keppel Islands. A great place to live and to visit!!
