Picking up this thread from June, Rex Gilfillan has just referred me to: http://rainbow.org.nz/ which quotes a lot of Australian sources in rebuttal of the New Zealand Department of Conservation's decision to attempt to remove Rainbow Lorikeets from the wild in NZ. I've read quite a bit of it and see nothing to override the precautionary principle in relation to introducing bird species.
