One really has to admire the persistance of the humble Sparrow. We had a pair that attempted to nest at our place last Summer. As I am definately not up to destroying the chicks,I destroyed the nest at completion stage and they spent the whole Summer re-building the same nest. They didn't get the message and in the end I felt quite sorry for them! I guess their persistance is the very reason they are successful. I am a member of the Royal Society For the Protection of Birds(U.K) and there is concern over there about the decline of the numbers of Sparrows(as well as other species) and the R.S.P.B.are sponsoring someone to do his P.H.D thesis on Sparrows! Hard to believe isn't it. Bett Mitchell To unsubscribe from this list, please send a message to Include ONLY "unsubscribe birding-aus" in the message body (without the quotes) |
