Hi Carol and Birding-Aus members

Carol you have raised an interesting point about the Olive Whistler in
the Blue Mountains, NSW. I certainly can find no records from the NSWFOC
data base for Olive Whistlers in the Blue Mountains at least since 1970.
Except for one recent record in the Watagn Mountains, all records stop
at Barrington Tops in the north, and restart on the Illawarra Coast, ie
Mt Keira, Macquarie Pass and Barren Grounds. The Atlas of Australian
Birds, says that Olive Whistlers were last seen in the Sydney Region in
the 1920s. The status of this bird does not seem to have changed since
the 1978-82 Bird Atlas in that it is regularly beein seen at previously
known favourite sites. It would be worthwhile if the Blue Mountains Bird
Group could make a special attempt to look for the birds around Mt
Wilson!
