birding-aus Ferdinand Bauer, (1760-1826) produced numerous and excellent illustrations of plants and some birds. My questions to the membership of Birding-aus are. (1) Is Limosa lapponica baueri (Naumann, 1836) named after Ferdinand Bauer?? [Description published in Naturgeschichte der Vogel Deutschlands 7; (1836) 8; (1840) 10.] I have not been able to locate the published description to confirm. (2) Are there any other species or subspecies of birds named baueri after Ferdinand Bauer?? Any information would be appreciated.
