Gil,
If you can't find Apus nipalensis in the database, then it has certainly been
lumped in Apus affinis. It all depends on what view is followed. Thus, they are
still considered two separate species in Sibley and Monroe. However, several
recent major field guides have lumped them again, such as Birds of Wallacea and
Birds of the Indian Subcontinent.
So, if you only find Apus affinis, it certainly includes A. nipalensis.

Can somebody please tell me what has happened to Apus nipalensis ? My
BirdBase for Windows program calls A. nipalensis the House Swift and
BirdArea has it appearing in Nepal and the Indian subcontinent generally.
A. affinis (which it calls the Little Swift) appears over much the same
area but into Africa as far as South Africa and through SE Asia to
Australia. Has A. nipalensis been lumped into A. affinis ?
If my new Hanzab had arrived, I may not have had to ask this question.
