Hi Jan

We were also at the crocodile farm on Thursday, a week ago, just as the
really big rain started, and likewise saw nothing, except a few unidentified
skulking objects. Plenty of Crimson Finches on the road out however.

One or two of our northern friends expressed surprise when I told them that
the Black Bittern is a regular down here, and I hoped I hadn't been guilty
of overstating it, but sure enough as we had our breakfast on the verandah
this-morning a Black Bittern obligingly flew along the creek in front of us,
just to help us in our process of adjustment back from the riotous
experience of birding in the north to our own special but familiar patch.

I've had quite a few responses to the posting about Mission Beach and places
to stay in the north etc, and I will drop replies to people in the next few
days.
