Many thanks to Lawrie Conole, David James, Peter Lansley, Lloyd Nielsen,
Hugo Phillips, Frank O'Connor, Tom Tarrant, 'Mick the Birdman' Todd, Wim
Vader, John Walters and Jo Wieneke for taking the trouble to clarify the
taxonomic names on records in the QMuseum database.
It exploded the myth that taxonomic names should be used in preference to
the recommended English name to avoid confusion. Mick Todd suggested that
numbers should used in databases in stead of names; I am sure Pat O'Malley
would agree as it would reduce the size of his Abbrev. Fld. Gde. to Real
Aussie Birds even further.
