I know that Little Spotted Kiwi can now be seen on Tiri Tiri and is
probably the only place as it is not possible to stay during darkness on
Kapiti. In 1996 Boats left to Tiri Tiri on a thursday and returned on
Sunday. There is a nice little place to stay there as well apparently.

The best place for this (now North Island Brown Kiwi) is Aroha Island near
Keri Keri. You should contact Stuart Chambers (the bloke who wrote the
site guide) he has set up an eco-tourism place on this little Island
(which you can drive on to) and it's a good area for Banded and Spotless
Crakes as well as the Kiwi.

I can give anyone his contact details if they get in touch privately.
Cheers
Phil.
