Thanks to all who replied to my Question about the "Beeping Bird"; so far
suggestions have been

A frog - the White-browed Chirper [sphenophryne fryi]
              Shining Bronze Cuckoo
              Pied Monarch
              Grey-headed Robin
              Yellow-spotted Honey-eater
              Brush Cuckoo
              Black Butcherbird
  and some sort of Cicada.

I'll pass the info. on to my friend; maybe she'll be able to locate the
noise-maker.

Una Stephenson.
