I Can't comment on the above book specifically. Another field guide is
being produced for India and should be out next year some time. Its by Krys
Kazmierczak with illustrations by Ber van Perlo. I understand from Krys
that he is trying trying to "make a truly pocket-sized field guide for the
Indian Subcontinent. This means that the illustrations should largely speak
for themselves. The text is thus limited to additional notes on separating
difficult species, habitat, voice etc., while keeping the entire text on
the page facing the plate. This doesn't leave a lot of room for waffling,
so I am just trying to keep to the critical field marks"
