A note relating to advertising.

As mentioned before, the question of advertising came up some time ago
and I seem to recall that the final outcome was that if you had any
doubt as to whether your proposed mail was advertising or not it
should be forwarded to the administrator of the list prior to being
posted as a matter of courtesy, primarily to members subscribed.

If you are selling something - then that may be classed as advertising
If you are after donations - then that may be classed as advertising

Do you regard for example notification about upcoming boat trips as
advertising?  Or looking for birders to help fill your trip?  These are
examples of what I think are acceptable, but perhaps a book shop
advertising cheap copies of so and so is not.
