Dear John, re Grey-headed Albtrosses Up to 1995 the NSW Ornithological Records Appraisal Committee recognised about 18 records of Grey-headed Albatross for NSW of which 15 were for the period up to 1981 and some of those earlier records may be doubtful, and three records since, the latest being a beachcast bird at Mona Vale 5/8/1986. I don't think there were any records for 1996 but that report is not yet out!. So the fact that there have been 4 or 5 records this winter is unusual. However the NSWORAC has not received any submissions on these birds as yet so they may not all be accepted records in the long term!. Alan Morris NSWFOC Records Officer and Member NSWORAC |
