Re Regent Parrots in NSW Peter Milburn wrote about the presence of a Regent Parrot at Euston and asked if they are known there. The answer is yes, their distribution in NSW is along the Murray River from Balranald to Dareton where they nest in the redgums along the river and feed out in the mallee ares. Their numbers declined because much of the mallee along the Murray River in this part of NSW is cleared and has been cleared for grazing and vineyards for some long periods. The best place to see them is east of Euston down to Swan Hill in the mixed farming and malle patches. The distribution is still as stated in Morris, McGill & Holmes 1981 "Handlist of Birds in NSW" Alan Morris Records Officer NSWFOC |
