While Ian climbs on his hobby-horse I have to climb on mine. I don't think that anyone should be using the term Pharisee in a pejorative sense these days?the usage springs from a strand of Christian anti-Jewish sentiment that one would hope is long passed. Oh, and as Pharisees were not priests they didn't have acolytes, only disciples or followers or pupils (as did Jesus, who was a leading rabbi of the Pharisaic school of his day). John Leonard |
