Hi Paul, Re-early nesting of Yellow-rumped Thornbills Like most birds of the temperate regions of Austrailia, the lengthening of the daylight period signals the onset of nesting for many species of passerines, from Ravens to Yellow-rumped & Brown Thornbills, White-browed Scrub-wrens, Spotted Pardalotes, magpies etc It is usual for this group of birds to commence nesting in July almost as if the day after the 22 June, the race is on to have the first nest! Certainly all the above mention are nesting on the Central Coast. Alan Morris |
