A small population of the red whiskered bulbul was released in Mackay, on
the Central Queensland coast, several years ago and appears to be spreading
across some suburbs. I have no information on numbers (another good one
for the Atlas project no doubt) or whether they are present in the adjacent
agricultural areas. Mackay is predominantly a sugar growing area with some
horticulture.
