Dear Bob,
White-headed Pigeonms are more obvious at this time of the year than at
any other time because they leave the forests and come into the bushland
reserves and urban areas to feed on the ripend seeds of the Broad-leafed
and Narrow-leafed Privets. Bush regeneration projects in urban areas
that include removal of weeds such as privets from natural watercourses,
disadvantage WHP however, the birds probably move onto to other creeks
where there is still plenty of privet.Between 7-9 am and 5-5 pm the
birds are active in privet infested areas!
