Highlights from twice-weekly Canberra Ornithologists' Group (COG) hotline,
for week ending 20 March (some reports are of earlier obs).

Still no rain, and to help out, we've just had the hottest March day on
record....

SPINE-TAILED SWIFTS 14-5/3 large numbers moving over to the north (3
presumably separate groups totalling 600)

PLUMED WHISTLING DUCK Single bird still on Lake Burley Griffin!!

TURQUOISE PARROT 14/3 juvenile at Barren Grounds Nature Reserve
(inland from Kiama) [In addition to the 'normal' Beautiful Firetails,
Southern Emu-wrens, Ground Parrots, Eastern Bristlebirds...]

BLACK FALCON 14/3 near Hoskinstown (east of Queanbeyan)

YELLOW-TUFTED HONEYEATER 8+9/3 Canberra Uni grounds [very unusual
suburban bird]

GREY-HEADED FRUIT-BAT 18/3 suburban Page [to add to the also unusual
influx of LITTLE REDS]
