While showing some beginners around Royal National Park, just south of Sydney, one pointed out a big green bird. It was a Green Catbird beside a nest in the fronds of a Cabbage Tree Palm. I could see another bird on the nest beside it. Do Cat birds catch mice another asked? To see the bird, go to Wattle Forest. Walk through the rainforest to the sign which says Bush regeneration in progress, please tread softly. Look in the row of cabbage tree palms to the right against the hillside. Good luck. I've seen plenty of catbirds but this is the first one I have seen nesting. Trevor Quested Sydney, Australia Phone +61 2 9955 6266 Fax + 61 2 9959 4005 |
