Eric,
I would appreciate details of the locality - I'm in that neck of the woods
from time to time. Indeed I have made almost 80 bird counts at a property
about 25 km south of Maldon over the past 13 years; needless to say I've
never seen any unexpected raptors there.

Sunday the 28th Dec my partner and I went up to Malden in the Victorian spa
country.  While I was fishing on the Lodden River (can be more specific if
was to check a map) I disturbed a falcon.
