I wanted to thank all the kind people who helped me find birds when
I went to Cairns and the Daintree a few weeks ago. I got sent folders and
recommendations and had such a good time, including with Chris on the river
tour, that I stayed 4 extra days including Cape Tribulation. My bird list
isn't huge but there was great fun finding them all. One high point was an
archer fish that tried to knock down a forest kingfisher, unsuccessfully.
Can anyone put me in touch with birders around Sydney, e.g. is
there some sort of club that makes trips? I am visiting places on my own
like Centennial Park but mostly during the week as public transportation on
weekends involves a lot of waiting at bus stops. I did see a thick-kneed
bush stone curlew stalking the pond at the University of Sydney at night
about 4 weeks ago (while waiting for the bus).
Cheers, Harriette, the amateur-in-training
