Thought I'd contribute a bit of humour in the form of a poem.

NATIVE GARDEN BLUES

Scrubfowl in the night, calling madly.
Rufous Owl replies, sounding sadly.
I lie awake at four o'clock,
Wishing the Red-necked Rails would stop.
Bush Hens cluck, Koels cry out
The nightjar goes on for ever.
Next I know the kookaburra announces,
That dawn has made it's advances.
Duskies squawk breaking the calm
Friarbird starts up - who needs an alarm
When all I want to do is sleep,
The birds - all they do is tweet!

Actually, the koels haven't arrived in Cairns yet. Yes we did get woken up
by a Rufous Owl - just the once!
