Some interesting points...

1. At Sydney's Taronga Zoo at the moment there is a 'free flight' event
happening, where certain raptors are able to hover, circle soar, above
the zoo and harbour for all to see!!! Species involved, amongst others,
are an Andean Condor, Black-breasted Buzzard and Barking Owl!! They all
have radio trackers strapped to their legs!!

2. A guy in the USA has invented this amazing hat contraption which
combines headgear and two feeders, heading out from the helmet, so as to
attract hummingbirds. He sits quietly, and the hummers come flocking for
a drink of juice!! Sounds fantastic!!

3. Some students at the school where I work brought in an immature
Rainbow Lorikeet and an all yellow Parrot (Lorikeet Like... an aviary
escapee...what was it??), as they had been attacked by Ravens. It's good
to see our youth with some compassion. The birds were taken to a vet.

4. Heard first Channel-billed Cuckoo of the season at Castle Hill,
north-west Sydney, at 4:30 today...

Cheers,

LORNE.
