Three Baillon's Crakes were seen last Saturday, 6th Sept, on the wetland
adjoining the golf course car park at Belmont Common, so the Purple Swamphens
can't have eaten them all. What happened to your nomination for this species to
the Flora and Fauna Guarantee?

Hello Valda,
My sincere apologies for not being more careful
with your surname.
It has just occurred to me that the Victorian Wader
Study Group did some netting of Snipe at the Common a year
or two ago and may have some idea for the questions you're
after.
Clive Minton is the President, I believe, and may be able
to help. Clives e-mail address is
All the best with your endeavors
Martin
