Gil Langfield reported seeing Nankeen Night Herons in Moreton Bay fig trees in Fremantle. They can commonly be found at the Perth Zoo in South Perth roosting in the Moreton Bay figs. Other reliable sites in Perth are Booragoon Lake where they breed and can be seen from the boardwalk, and Herdsman Lake where you can see them leaving their roosts just before dusk. Bibra Lake is another good site but you often have to walk a fair distance. |
