G'day all
Firstly I must echo the views of others by heaping praise on this
book. The plates are (to me) excellent and the text is up to
Graham's high standards.
Inevitably a couple of mistakes have caught my eye. The distribution
maps for Budgerigar and Elegant Parrot show all of Tasmania filled in.
I think the order of species should have more closely followed
Christides & Boles. The treatment of Ringneck Parrots as two species
is a bit confusing. It is the only case I can find where the book
departs from current classification. Why do it for Ringneck and not
several other species?
The size of the book doesn't bother me. I've never understood some
people's desire to have their field guide in their pockets while
birding. Take notes and use the guides back at camp.
I urge you all to do yourselves a favour and buy this book. Apart
form anything else it will stimulate the competition to strive harder.
Cheers
Steve Clark
