One of the correspondents mentioned that cane toads are noctural and black kites diurnal, if early risers. In north Queensland I found cane toads to be crepuscular as well as noctural; and after a heavy storm towards the end of the dry season they were out frolicking in the puddles well into late morning. The canetoads young are frequently seen in daylight along the banks of the Ross River and near Ross Dam after rain events. And in Townsville rain IS an event. I'll be back up there in a few weeks, so Andy Anderson, anything about around Cairns? |
