hello all

last sunday afternoon (18th Nov) we witnessed an unusual sighting of a
great frigatebird flying up the mainland at Kinka beach, about 10 kms south
of Yeppoon (central Queensland coast). These birds are not commonly seen
from the mainland even in this area - they prefer offshore islands. The
bird we saw was a single sub adult male as it was mottled on the chest and
had no white tabs in the underwing. We had a very good view of it as it
flew about 5 metres directly above us. A lifer for both of us!

cheers
