12 November 1995. PORTLAND PELAGIC SEABIRD TRIP
Weather: 1.5 m swell. 5 knot wind from south-west. Clear skies; cloudy in 
afternoon. 10-15 knot wind in afternoon from south-west.
Departed 6.30 am and returned 4.00 pm.

BIRDS
Southern Giant-Petrel (2)
Northern Giant-Petrel  (1)
Cape Petrel (4) including nominate and D.c.australis
Great-winged Petrel (30) a large number of P.m.gouldi
White-chinned Petrel (1)
Flesh-footed Shearwater (4)
Sooty Shearwater (1)
Short-tailed Shearwater (200) most between 5 nautical miles and 26 nm 
  from Lawrence Rocks. One dead 1/2 decomposed at 26 nm.
Fluttering Shearwater (15)
Wandering Albatross (2) 1/3 stage and 1st stage juvenile.
Royal Albatross (2)
Black-browed Albatross (50)
Shy Albatross (300) most immatures
Yellow-nosed Albatross (30)
Wilson's Storm-Petrel (30)
Grey-backed Storm-Petrel (2)
Australasian Gannet (8000) at Lawrence Rocks. Two birds 26 nm from 
  Lawrence Rocks.
Black-faced Cormorant (150) at Lawrence Rocks.
Peregrine Falcon (3) pair with one young at Lawrence Rocks.
Sooty Oystercatcher (2) at Lawrence Rocks.
Pacific Gull (4) two at Lawrence Rocks and two in harbour.
Silver Gull (1) in harbour.
Crested Tern (20) up to 10 at 26nm from Lawrence Rocks.
White-fronted Tern (1)

Jaeger sp. (1)  (possibly Pomarine)
Common Diving-Petrel (8) possible sighting
