We recorded a number of Great-winged Petrels  (gouldii) off Wollongong on
May 28 of this year.  The main feature of this Australian breeding form is
the fact that the white is more or less restricted to the loral area and
does not extend below the bill.  They are quite unusual for the NSW coast. 
I am tempted to speculate if there is a connection of these sightings with
the unusual state of the Southern Ocean as represented by low Krill number
and Pilchard kills.
