Wouldn't using SSH be more secure? The Technologic boards run stock
Debian GNU/Linux, and a quick google reveals (first result):

That said, I'd suggest investigating SSH. I find it vastly superior in
that it's (1) encrypted, (2) supports pipes and file transfers, and (3)
can authenticate using public-key authentication.
