You may also want to look into sqlite http://www.sqlite.org/... it's lightweight and perfect for self-contained embedded systems... you could use php on the board itself to transform data into xml to pass to .NET pretty easily over the network and keep all security in the embedded app itself, or easily export portions of tables to a sqlite file that the .NET app can open easily offline... depending on your use case the possibilities are pretty endless. As for corruption sqlite is a fully ACID compliant database and significantly lighter weight than something like mysql.

I'm trying to write a program to CONNECT to a MySQL database running on
my Linux server. That way, I can log data, and access it with a
spreadsheet or a .Net application on Windows PCs. (And not worry about a
power failure on the 7250 corrupting a file system.)
