Mike,

In this case you should only need to install the headers if you want to develop with the version debian provides.  Try 'apt-get install libmysqlclient14-dev'.

I'm trying to write a program to CONNECT to a MySQL database running on
my Linux server. That way, I can log data, and access it with a
spreadsheet or a .Net application on Windows PCs. (And not worry about a
power failure on the 7250 corrupting a file system.)
