This page suggests that it is not possible to go beyond 50 Hz. Haven't tried it
myself.
I think you can use some pins of the PC/104 header as GPIO; this should be a
lot faster. Also, you could use the external PC/104 board called TS-DIO24. I've
tried both, but not checked their speed. TS-DIO24 was able to control a stepper
motor from a scanner pretty well, it should certainly be much faster than 50 Hz.
