email is completely scriptable in linux command line.   so you can make an executable script file that you can call from the prompt to send a mail message.    at that point you are only a :

system("myemailsender.com");

C call away from calling email from a c program.

You could compile for ARM this project http://msmtp.sourceforge.net/
and have access to the client
