OK, sorry for getting excited, but it bothers me when we present what appears to be false information.  I agree that the ts7500 is interesting, but I don't think it has a place in this sort of application, when a host computer is required, and external hardware is required.  I see your point, of trying to wrap the answers around the ts7500 though.

This processor is a High end processor made for handling video data rates, and is not a typical low end DSP which usually have data rates below 100Mhz. That is patently FALSE.  For example the TI OPAMP DSP comes with a camera interface which accepts parallel data at at least 75Mhz  as I recall.

hmmm... Maybe we'll have to go with the other SBC we've purchased that comes with an on board DSP...
