yes 100 mb Ethernet can if done right. That's only 25% load. Dedicated Ethernet can be run up to 60% load.  The basic problem is getting the data on the Ethernet line at that speed. The processors at each end tend to be the bottlenecks

Am I reading this correctly? 8 bits at 25MHz is 25Mbytes per second, if
they are coming in parallel.
100M ethernet isn't going to be able to support that rate.
