Doh! It was a power supply problem! <-- thanks to the posting usb and possible power supply problems

With the new power adapter I can ping and tenet the board over WiFi

..even though I forgot to enter the command:

      # wpa_supplicant -irausb0 -Dralink -c/etc/wpa_supplicant_custom.conf -B

I have no idea why it works without this command.
