I don't know about the rest of the world, but atleast in Canada running
a GSM modem 24/7 on any of our carriers would cost a small fortune :)
That and rural coverage can suck really bad, hence why we run our own
links to places we can reach and rely on the cell providers only if
absolutely needed.  I still say if you can keep it within your own
control and run your own links you're better off.  No one to blame and
have to wait on to fix things other then yourself :)
